Why Fraser Fir
Known for their excellent needle retention, Fraser Firs have strong branches and naturally tend to a compact, pyramidal shape. This classic Christmas tree shape and their soft needles are making them a favorite choice in regions where they are available.
Why Douglas Fir
Douglas Firs are also a very popular Christmas tree and are known specifically for their sweet fragrant smell. These trees also have soft needles and a pyramidal shape, but are a little more full than an Fraser Fir (more branches).
Handling Your Tree
Fraser and Douglas firs form a sap cap within 24 hours of being cut. It is important to put the cut end of your tree in water as soon as possible and keep it watered to ensure a healthy look and extend the life of your tree. If you are not able to bring the tree in right away, that is O.K. too, just make sure to freshly cut it prior to installation. Loose needles in the fall are part of the natural life-cycle of your tree, so you should be sure to shake the tree thoroughly before installing it in your home.
